Zusammenfassung: Die Umstellung der klassischen leitungsgebundenen Telefontechnik auf eine moderne und auf längere Sicht kostengünstigere Voice over IP Infrastruktur rückt zunehmend ins Blickfeld der Entscheidungsträger in mittleren und größeren Unternehmen. Doch ein unter Umständen hoher Integrationsund Administrationssaufwand bleibt bei den bisher angebotenen Lösungen auf Basis von H.323 und SIP weiterhin ein wichtiger Hemmfaktor. Die Einfachheit und Offenheit von Web Services als Architektur für verteilte Anwendungen und Systeme bringt viele Vorteile für Anbieter und Nutzer solcher Dienste. Eine Kombination der beiden Technologien Web Services und Voice over IP birgt ein großes Potenzial, um das Telefonieren über das Internet weiter zu verbreiten und für Nutzer und Anbieter einen ähnlich hohen, wenn nicht gar besseren Komfort wie in der klassischen Telefonie zu bieten.
